Location of adsense in the page
The first thing we did was, move the adsense from the bottom of the pages to the top left corner. Now, the adsense ad appear just above the page specific menu in all pages. In this new location, the adsense merges well with the layout of the site and visitors may think that these are links to sections in our site itself. This increases the possibility of clicks.



Background and border color of Adsense ad unit

We used the same background color as our page specific menu. This make the adsense look more like a page menu. Also, we used white borders for the adsense, but placed them inside a table with the same border color as our page menu. Now the adsense looks more like the page menu.


Ad format - Number of Ads in the adsense

Google gives only two options regarding the number of ad links in an adsense ad unit - 4 ad links per unit or 5 ad links per unit. Initially we selected 5 so that we can have more ads. But soon we realised that this option creates ad links in smaller size which make it hard to read. Also, the font size was smaller than our links in the site. We changed to 4 ad links per unit and this made it easier to read and more friendly for the visitors.

Rich content
Like AdSense works well on pages with rich content. It is difficult to fool Google. If you have lot of pages with rich content, you must be able to make maximum benefit from the Google AdSense program.


Rich Keywords
The amount you get depends on how much Google makes from the clicks. Advertisers pay different amounts for keywords. Some keywords are very expensive and you will get good money if you are lucky to get those keyword ads in your page.
